Making Family Dinner a Tradition: Why Eating Together Still Matters

Some of the best family conversations happen around the table. For decades, Eat'n Park has been a gathering place for families. Here are two simple ways to make family dinner more of a tradition!

Celebrate Small Wins

Big family dinners to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and promotions at work are very common, but let’s normalize family dinners that celebrate the small wins in life! It’s a simple way to recognize the little things while bringing the family together.

Whether it’s an A on a math test, an aced audition for the school play, a successful presentation at work, or a tackled to-do list at home, gather the family to share in the accomplishment with a special dinner at Eat’n Park.

Perhaps a super job on a math test scores your kid a Kid’s Jr. Superburger, or maybe a sensational audition for the autumn musical calls for a seasonal meal like our Turkey Dinner. A whaley good presentation earns our Whale of a Cod Dinner, or maybe simply taking a bite out of the do-to-list is rewarded with our tasty Pepperoni Pizza Bites?

Weekly Catch Up

Catching up can be difficult when every member of the family has conflicting schedules, or maybe the kids have grown up and moved off to college or have homes and families of their own.

Planning a weekly catch up (or monthly, even!) allows the dedicated time and space to enjoy a family meal together and find out what is new in everyone’s lives.

Maybe Wednesday evenings work best for the family? Pick up the kids from their after-school activities and relax over your favorite burgers and salads while brainstorming ideas for the science fair project or themes for the school dance.

Getting together with older kids, especially those with their own families, may take a little more planning, but perhaps the first Sunday of every month works for everyone. Make it a mini-Thanksgiving by adding a $1.99 slice of Pumkin Pie to any of our turkey meals, including our Roasted Hot Turkey Sandwich, Turkey Dinner, Pittsburgh Turkey Sandwich, and Turkey Club. Go all out on the theme and share what you’re thankful for this week, discuss your plans for the upcoming holidays, and coordinate dates for a future family vacation!

Celebrate a small win or plan your next catch up with the family this week at Eat’n Park.
