Spring Farm Tour - Part 2
As you may have read in my earlier post, I'm on the road this spring, doing a series of interviews with the local farmers that we partner with through FarmSource. Personally, I loved learning how much knowledge these farming families have passed down through the generations. I think you're going to enjoy these interviews, so I'll be posting my videos here whenever I can.
I most recently met with Art King of Harvest Valley Farms. Art and his family provide Eat'n Park with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and zucchini throughout the spring and summer.

Spring Farm Tour – Live with our local farmers!
Spring has sprung, and I’m already making my rounds to visit with the farmers who supply our restaurants with the fresh, local produce that you find on our salad bar and in our menu items. Since it’s still early and there’s not much to see in their fields and greenhouses yet, I thought you might like to know a little more about our hardworking partners who make our FarmSource program possible. So, I took my video camera, hit the road, and set about convincing these farmers to share a little about themselves with me. I enjoyed learning what makes them laugh and cry, and hopefully, you will too.
My fist visit was with Don Brenkle, of Brenckle's Farm and Greenhouse. When you visit Eat’n Park this summer and fall, you’ll find fresh tomatoes, green peppers, corn, and zucchini right from Don’s farm.
I’m still busy making my rounds, but I’ll be posting my interviews whenever I can. Stop back again to learn more about other farmers that we partner with through FarmSource.
Until next time,

See Smiley and the Cookie Cruiser in your neighborhood this summer!
Eat’n Park’s famous mascot, Smiley, and his Cruiser are revving up for another fun and exciting summer! We love spreading smiles at family-focused, kid-friendly events across Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. If you are hosting an event that fits the bill, consider inviting Smiley and the Cookie Cruiser to attend.
It’s so easy to do: just complete the online application at least six weeks in advance of your event. We’ll let you know about 3 weeks before your event if Smiley is able to attend. Last year, Smiley attended more than 180 events in the communities we serve and gave away almost 100,000 Smiley Cookies. Team Smiley took some great photos to document Smiley’s journeys- check out his Photo Gallery. Who knows? Maybe you’re even in one of the photos!
We’re proud to be your neighbor and look forward to meeting you at an event in your neighborhood! To see where Smiley is going next, check out our Where’s Smiley page. Share

Easter Pie Deliciousness at Eat'n Park
Fun fact of the day: Easter is the third most popular pie weekend at Eat’n Park. Why are pies so popular for Easter? Well, that’s a mystery that I just can’t answer. But here’s something I DO know….we’re not complaining. If it’s pies you want, then pies you’ll get. Chocolate pies! Fruit pies! Crème pies! Pies, pies, pies! Don’t believe me? Ask one of our bakers next time you’re at Eat’n Park.
The king of all Easter Pies is none other than our sky-high Lemon Meringue Pie! We sell more than twice as many Lemon Merginue Pies than any other pie for Easter. Maybe it’s because they’re so delicious. Maybe it’s the gravity defying, fluffy peaks of meringue-y deliciousness. Or maybe it’s because it’s an incredible deal at just $6.99. We don’t try to figure out the mystery, we just embrace it!
You can embrace it, too! We’re here to take your Easter-pie experience to the next level. We have so many great flavors (including our famous Strawberry Pie!) that it’s going to be difficult to choose just one. So you may as well pick a few! Check out the list of our favorite flavors. You can even order ahead so that your Easter Pies are ready when you are. Just call ahead to your neighborhood Eat’n Park to place your order. You can then kick back, relax and enjoy the holiday. And, of course, the rave reviews you’ll receive for serving such incredibly delicious pies.
Happy Easter! Share

Caring for Kids Mercury Milan Winners
Last week, we presented our Caring for Kids car raffle winners with their brand new 2010 Mercury Milan! Mike and Mimmi G. of Sykesville, PA custom ordered their new ride to include all the bells and whistles. Sue P. of our Dubois Eat’n Park sold them the winning ticket, and she and her team (including Smiley) were on hand to make the occasion a special one.
Generously donated by our partners at the Pittsburgh Lincoln Mercury Dealers Association, the vehicle was raffled as part of our Caring for Kids campaign. Ticket sales helped us to raise over $334,000 for local children’s hospitals in 2009.
Congratulations Mike and Mimmi!

Get Lucky with Shamrock Smiley Cookies
St. Patrick’s Day will be here next week, and Shamrock Smiley Cookies have sprung up here at Eat’n Park. The abundance of green is a little reminder that spring is right around the corner!
Have you ever wondered why the Shamrock is associated with Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day? We have, so we did a wee bit of research…
Who was St. Patrick?
St. Patrick was a Christian missionary who came to be recognized as the patron saint of Ireland. Born in Britain, he was captured by Irish raiders when he was a child, and was taken to Ireland as a slave. After his escape years later, he decided to return to Ireland to bring Christianity to the people there. St. Patrick is believed to have died on March 17 around 460 A.D., which is why St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on the 17th.
What does the Shamrock have to do with St. Patrick?
The Shamrock is a three-leaved clover, and legend has it that St. Patrick used the formation of the leaves to explain Christianity’s Holy Trinity.
Why are Shamrocks considered lucky?Probably because the three-leaved Shamrock is often confused with the rarer four-leaved clover. The four-leaved clover is considered lucky because the odds of finding one in a field of Shamrocks are 10,000 to 1.
So, there you have it! Interested in more info on St. Patrick’s Day? Check out the St. Patty’s pages at History.com: http://www.history.com/topics/who-was-saint-patrick.
And if you’re feeling lucky, download our “Luck O’ the Smilish” wallpaper featuring our Shamrock Smiley Cookies – it will certainly get your Irish eyes a smilin’! Click here to download.
