Caring for Kids - Supporting local children's hospitals for 31 years and counting

There are a lot of things we’re proud of at Eat’n Park. We’re proud to offer you great food at a great price. We’re proud to be a welcoming place for families. But perhaps most of all, we’re proud to be a part of your community. And because of that, we’re committed to giving back to the neighborhoods we call home. One of the ways that we do that is through our annual Caring for Kids Fundraising Campaign. During the campaign, all of our team members unite for 5 weeks with one common goal: to raise money for local children’s hospitals and charities.

Now in its 31st year, our campaign has raised more than $7 million, thanks to the enthusiasm of our team members, loyal guests and great partners like Lincoln Mercury. Every year, local Lincoln Mercury dealers donate a vehicle for us to raffle off to benefit the campaign. This year, it’s a 2010 Mercury Milan.

To celebrate, we’re kicking off the campaign on November 6 with something special: FREE Smiley Cookie Day, courtesy of Lincoln Mercury! Anyone who buys a $2 Mercury Milan raffle ticket between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. will receive a free Smiley Cookie, courtesy of local Lincoln Mercury dealers.

In addition to the raffle, you can purchase limited-edition Smiley Stuff like Smiley Magnets or Christmas Star Flipbooks for just $2. They’re perfect stocking stuffers. The Flipbook depicts our famous animated Christmas Star commercial. As you flip through the book, you’ll see the tree bend over to help the star to the top!

We hope you’ll stop by our restaurants for one of the many fun activities we have planned to support children’s hospitals. We’re so appreciative of the support of our loyal guests throughout the last 30 years and we’re excited for a great 2010 Caring for Kids Campaign!

I think you need a new commercial.

No way! The christmas star/tree commercial is something we wait for every year. And I've seen the impact it makes on little children - to help one another!

You do NOT need a new commercial. Lots of children grew up seeing that commercial. It is a part of our holiday season, and after all these years, it still kinda gets to me when that tree bows down to help that little star reach the top. It is simple and hopeful, and as much of a tradition as Eat'n Park is. I would be very sad to see that commercial disappear...

Please don't get a new commercial. I look forward to this one every year. It's a favorite. I actually cry a little when I see it because it's so special.

DON'T take away the ad - it influences love and compassion every holiday season. Our son just celebrated his 30th birthday and that ad has been his absolute favorite all his life.

Please don't change a thing! I live out of state and love seeing it when I come home for Christmas

Please, please do not change your ad! It warms our hearts with its simplicity of design. Your commercial is worth a thousand words. We think of love and friendship when we see the lovely Christmas tree bend down to help the little one. Isn't that representative of America? Thank you!

We all love the little tree and the star! Such a classic. Whenever it comes on we race to see it. It is about as perfect as an ad could be. We miss Bob Trough's voice, though.

Everyone,
Thank you for your wonderful comments about our Christmas Star commercial. We have no intention of changing this classic. In fact, later this month, we'll be posting the air dates when you can catch the commercial live on TV. Stay tuned, and happy holidays!

Not to change the subject, but has anyone yet considered a past suggestion of mine for chocolate icing on smiley cookies once in a while? Christmas would be a good time. Yum!
